WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR RUGS GET WET

  1. Extract as much water as possible, and speed up the drying process for any water remaining in the rug.
    1. If you are using a vacuum, make sure to work with the resting direction of your rug’s pile, don’t go “against the grain” as this may cause pile damage.
    2. You can for example, use fans or a hair dryer if the area is small enough, to speed up the evaporation of water from within the rug as much as possible. When dealing with an outgrowth of micro-organisms, every little bit counts.
  2. Never fold or roll your rugs up while they’re wet. If there are any dyes within the rug, don’t hang them to dry, and lay them out under the sun to accelerate the drying process. For plain rugs, hang them outside to dry to let gravity assist with the drying process.
  3. Contact a rug cleaning professional for further guidance, as circumstances vary depending on the kind of rug and water involved in the accident.

WET RUG DRYING

Our centrifugal drier eliminates more than 90% of water within rugs in under two minutes. This is impossible with fan systems set up by traditional restoration companies.

When rugs are wet and their dyes are loose, water extraction must be performed immediately to avoid permanent damage.

Rugs soaked in water for a prolonged period of time will be liable to damage such as color bleeding, rotting, shrinkage, and a general loss of integrity or durability.

We offer emergency pickup and extraction services on short notice.

For rugs that have sustained long-term water damage, it is unlikely that our rug cleaning process will reverse color bleeding or rotting damage, but it could help with odor and mold remediation.

Further rug flood damage repair services are available depending on the circumstances. Rest assured we have extensive experience in fixing flooded rugs.

FLOODED RUG CLEANING

It is imperative that a flooded rug is dried as early as possible, as rugs soaked in water for a prolonged period of time are at risk of damage such as color bleeding, rotting, shrinkage, and a general loss of integrity or durability. Furthermore, leaving rugs untreated can pose health risks. The toxins in an untreated rug can expose dangerous chemicals to our children, pets, and ourselves resulting in respiratory and neurological issues, as well as allergic reactions. Once dried, a custom set of detergents and disinfectants are selected for our flood-damaged rug cleaning process depending on the fiber content of the rug and the contaminants within the water involved in the accident to eliminate and prevent pathogens, mold and mildew from multiplying in the rug. If “black water” is involved, your rugs may be totaled, though in certain cases we are able to save your rug. We can file the necessary paperwork and water damaged rug valuation for insurance to assure just compensation from your policy.
